Public/Motivational Speaker & Host
Public & Motivational Speaking
Anu Omideyi is a criminal barrister who began her legal career in 2001 and paused it in 2015 when other areas of her life began to flourish. She ran a successful criminal practice spanning all areas of criminal law ranging from murder and serious violent and sexual offences to complex conspiracies to defraud from Furnival Chambers, a leading London set with nearly 100 members and 14 Queens Counsel. During this time she also sat on Furnival Chambers’ Board of Directors for 6 years - the youngest female and black person to have done so.

Further, as a current trustee of Common Purpose Student Experiences, a governing board member of the Gospel Music Industry Alliance UK, a previous member of the board of directors at Furnival Chambers between 2008-2014, a previous trustee of Common Purpose UK between 2002-2008 and the director and manager of The Reapers Choir for several years, Anu has a lot to offer in terms of experience, encouragement, advice, lessons learned, tips, inspiration and motivation. Her honest, open and engaging nature makes it easy to delve into and address the real issues that people truly want to hear about. She is as comfortable discussing her failures as she is her success.

It may, therefore, come as little surprise that Anu is often asked to speak at a wide range of events from conferences in city firms to small classrooms. She has honed her public speaking skills in courtrooms through years of addressing judges and juries in courts across the country including the Old Bailey and the Royal Courts of Justice. However, she finds it easy to relate to everybody, having hailed from Hackney (before it was trendy) and still very much treasuring her roots and community there. Her easy and personable manner shine through her public addresses as does her ability to hold attention, keep it and convey the relevant message.

She engages in community and mentoring programmes, aiming to provide opportunities and raise aspirations wherever she can.
